A successful Trainexus scenario follows three straightforward steps. Whether you're designing compliance training, exam preparation, or customer conversation practice — the structure remains consistent. This guide shows what matters most.
Step 1: Define Your Learning Objective
Every scenario starts with a specific, observable learning objective. Vague formulations like "The participant should communicate better" help neither the avatar nor the feedback system.
Better examples:
- "The participant recognizes the customer's objection and responds with a solution-focused answer."
- "The student explains the difference between two technical terms clearly and accurately."
- "The employee politely but firmly declines an inappropriate request."
The more precise your learning objective, the more strategically the avatar can guide the conversation — and the more meaningful the feedback will be.
Step 2: Shape the Avatar's Personality
Your avatar needs a clear, consistent personality. This isn't about a detailed biography, but rather a coherent behavioral pattern. Three proven archetypes work well:
- Cooperative: The avatar is open, asks clarifying questions, and can be persuaded. Ideal for introductory scenarios.
- Critical: The avatar questions statements, raises counterarguments, and only changes their mind with solid reasoning. Suited for advanced scenarios.
- Uncertain: The avatar appears hesitant, needs encouragement, and responds sensitively to tone. Perfect for empathy-focused scenarios.
This personality influences how the avatar responds to statements, which follow-up questions they ask, and how persistent they remain on a topic.
Step 3: Set Evaluation Criteria
The feedback system assesses the conversation based on criteria you define. Recommendation: use no more than four or five criteria. Beyond that dilutes the feedback.
Examples of effective criteria:
- Technical Accuracy: Are the content statements correct?
- Conversation Structure: Is the dialogue logically organized?
- Empathy: Does the participant address the counterpart's emotions?
- Solution Orientation: Are concrete next steps proposed?
After the conversation, each criterion is evaluated individually — with a brief explanation and specific improvement suggestions.
